Adding Feeds
Tap any empty slot in the bottom bar to add a feed. Enter a name and the RSS/Atom feed URL. 4RSS supports both RSS and Atom formats. You can configure up to 4 feeds — that’s the intentional limit.
Reading Articles
Tap a feed slot to load its articles. Tap any article to read the full content in the built-in browser. Unread articles are highlighted; read articles appear dimmed. Colored dots indicate unread items in the list.
Mark as Read
Articles are automatically marked as read when you open them. Use the checkmark button in the top-left toolbar to mark all articles in the current feed as read at once.
Favorites
Star any article to save it to your favorites. Use the star toggle in the toolbar to filter the feed list to show only your favorited articles. Favorite data persists even when feeds are changed.
Refreshing
Pull down on the article list to refresh the current feed. This also updates unread badge counts across all your configured feeds. The last refresh time is shown below the navigation title.
Editing & Deleting Feeds
Long-press any feed slot in the bottom bar to access the context menu. From there you can edit the feed name and URL or delete the feed entirely to free up the slot.
Sharing Articles
When viewing an article, tap the share button in the top-right toolbar to share the article link via the iOS share sheet — send it to Messages, Mail, Notes, or any other app.
Settings
Tap the gear icon to open Settings. Choose your default startup feed so 4RSS opens to your preferred feed on launch. The About section shows the current version.
AI Summaries BETA
Bring your own API key from Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Mistral. Summarize individual articles or get a digest of today’s or this week’s news. Keys are stored securely in the device Keychain.

Our Commitment
4RSS is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. We do not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data. The app operates entirely on your device with zero server-side components.
Data Storage
All app data — including your configured RSS feeds, read/unread states, favorites, theme preferences, and settings — is stored locally on your iPhone using iOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to the developer or any third party.
Network Requests
4RSS makes the following network requests, all initiated by you:
- RSS/Atom feed fetching: When you add a feed or pull to refresh, the app fetches the RSS/Atom XML data directly from the feed URL you configured. These requests go directly to the feed provider’s server.
- Favicon loading: Feed icons are loaded via Google’s public favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons). Only the feed’s domain is sent — no personal data.
- Article viewing: When you open an article, the full web page is loaded in an in-app browser. This is identical to visiting the URL in Safari.
AI Features BETA
If you choose to enable the optional AI Article Assistant, the following applies:
- You must provide your own API key from a supported provider (Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Mistral).
- API keys are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device — they are never transmitted to the 4RSS developer or any other party.
- When you request an AI summary, article titles and content are sent to your selected AI provider’s servers for processing. This is the only case where any data leaves your device beyond standard feed fetching.
- Your usage is governed by your chosen provider’s own privacy policy and terms of service.
- AI features can be disabled at any time by removing your API key in Settings.
No Analytics, No Tracking
4RSS contains no analytics frameworks, no crash reporting SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting, and no usage tracking of any kind. We don’t know how many users we have, how often you open the app, or which feeds you read. That’s by design.
No Third-Party SDKs
4RSS is built entirely with Apple’s native frameworks (SwiftUI, WebKit, URLSession, Security). No third-party libraries or SDKs are included. The entire app is pure Apple-native code.
Children’s Privacy
4RSS does not collect any information from anyone, including children. The app contains no user accounts, no data collection forms, and no tracking mechanisms.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Given the architecture of 4RSS, any meaningful change would require a new app version — which would be reflected in the App Store release notes.
